EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AWARD 2011

Industry analysts Gartner predict that through 2012 more than 35% of the top 5,000 global companies will regularly fail to make insightful decisions about changes in their business and markets because they lack relevant information. So, making better use of your company’s data could be the difference between average or substantial growth. Techniques to harness this data, giving decision makers key information, is what Business Intelligence is all about. Recognising the strong demand in this field the fast growing Australian Business Intelligence Leadership Forum (ABILF), a group of 25 of the industry’s leading practitioners established in 2009, has announced its inaugural award.
The 1st Excellence in Business Intelligence Award 2011 seeks to highlight and reward the best practitioners in this fast emerging field. With an estimated 100 plus active companies running projects across most key Australian industrial sectors the ABILF expects a strong response from project teams, companies and individuals.
“More and more CFOs’ realise that the data assets within their company can be used much more efficiently and are approaching our members to realise this potential,” says ABILF President Hanne Breddam. Using industry standard software from Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, Teradata and a host of others to mine a company’s databases and create meaningful reports gives the CFO and CIO level stakeholders fingertip control of what’s going on, explains Breddam. Tools to manage the myriad of data flow can range from simple spreadsheets to complex dashboard style software apps which busy executives may use on iPads and smartphones.
Purpose of the Award
The purpose of the Excellence in BI Award is to increase awareness and improve practices amongst decision makers across Australian organisations to use information to create insight.
